Recharge & Recovery
M&A has been a regional leader in aquifer recharge, storage, and recovery since the 1980s.
For over 25 years, M&A has developed Recharge & Recovery solutions to help clients integrate Central Arizona Project (CAP) water, surface water, and treated effluent into their resource portfolios so they can better meet their demands. We combine the expertise of in-house staff with specialized drilling and engineering subconsultants, as needed, to build the right team for your project. Throughout each project’s lifespan, we not only take responsibility for obtaining and complying with agency permits but we also facilitate outreach and information programs to educate the public.
M&A has helped many water providers develop Recharge & Recovery solutions, including ADWR; the Central Arizona Water Conservation District; the Cities of Tucson, Peoria, and Glendale; the Town of Prescott Valley; the Roosevelt Water Conservation District; and the Pima County Flood Control District.
|Explore & Evaluate||Conduct reconnaissance-level recharge investigations using GIS|
|Conduct in-depth hydrogeologic characterization studies to identify the most promising sites for recharge operations|
|Rank sites in the context of hydrogeologic conditions, costs, and other key criteria|
|Assess the technical feasibility of recharge at selected locations|
|Conduct exploration drilling and testing to assess aquifer lithology and hydraulic properties|
|Model||Model groundwater flow under various recharge scenarios to predict mounding, flow changes, and water quality impacts|
|Develop models to support the design of recharge and recovery systems|
|Comply||Prepare hydrogeologic submittals for Constructed and Managed Underground Storage Facility (USF) permits, Water Storage (WS) permits, and Aquifer Protection Permits (APPs)|
|Interface with regulatory staff from ADWR and ADEQ to negotiate permit requirements|
|Manage||Develop comprehensive O&M, rehabilitation, monitoring, and contingency plans for injection wells and surface basins|
|Design and oversee theinstallation of recovery wellfields|
