M&A has extensive experience investigating the impacts — direct, indirect, and cumulative — to the quantity and quality of water resources. We typically work as part of a multidisciplinary team to meet NEPA-mandated requirements for clients who want to develop new facilities or expand existing ones. We have prepared the water resource portions of EIS submittals for various mines, recreational facilities, and proposed developments, often using hydrologic models, innovative field characterization tools, and remote sensing approaches such as satellite imagery analysis to document existing or historical conditions and assess impacts.

M&A is also a valuable asset to the public input process — a critical component of any EIS or other environmental assessment. We interface with federal, state, local, and tribal agencies, as well as with special interest groups. Our public presentations are clear, objective, and defensible, communicating complex concepts to a range of audiences.

In addition, we have conducted dozens of investigations to characterize the impacts of pumping on surface water resources, springs, and other critical groundwater uses.
