Learn more about M&A projects
M&A has a reputation for scientific objectivity, technical excellence, and successful client partnerships. Our staff has worked with private industry, regulatory agencies in several states and foreign countries, and state and local governments. We invite you to browse these descriptions of some of our recent, representative projects. Contact us if you would like to learn more about these projects or about our services in the areas of environmental hydrogeology, water supply development and management, mining hydrogeology, and water policy and economics.
- Remediation of Groundwater at a Superfund Site. Since 1983, M&A has played a critical role in characterizing and remediating groundwater contamination at Arizona’s largest Superfund site.
- Remedial Investigation at a Former Rocket Testing Site. M&A saves a client about $17 million by demonstrating that a mid-plume remedy was unnecessary.
- Remedial Design for VOC & Chromium Contamination in Soil & Groundwater. M&A uses traditional and cutting-edge technologies to remediate solvents and chromium in groundwater at a major Superfund site.
- EIS Support for a Proposed Mining Withdrawal on Federal Lands. M&A’s work provides a basis for selecting one of four alternatives that will define the future of uranium mining in the Grand Canyon area over the next 20 years.
- WESTCARB: Carbon Sequestration Pilot Study. M&A identifies a site to pilot-test for carbon sequestration and helps launch an exploration program in northern Arizona.
- Municipal Wellfield Evaluation & Expansion. M&A helps a municipal water provider augment its supplies.
- Inventory of Brackish Groundwater Resources. M&A uses a GIS-based approach to identify brackish groundwater resources as a future option for meeting statewide water demands.
- Water Adequacy Assessments in Northwestern Arizona. M&A’s water adequacy analysis results in approval for water supplies totaling 135,000 AFY in an area where little was previously known about the hydrogeologic system.
- Hydrogeologic Investigations & Monitoring of Recharge Facilities. M&A’s long-term technical support results in permitting and successful operation of the largest recharge and recovery facility in Arizona.
- Conversion of an Industrial Water Supply. After a mine shuts down, M&A helps convert an industrial wellfield to a supply source that can meet the demands of future residential or industrial water users.
- Hydrogeologic Support for a Concentrating Solar Power Plant. M&A demonstrates that there is sufficient groundwater available to support a renewable energy project without significantly impacting nearby users.
- Groundwater Management in the High Andean Desert. For over 25 years, M&A helps an Andean mine develop and manage its groundwater resources in an arid, ecologically sensitive environment.
- Hydrogeologic Support for EIS Application. M&A provides a range of characterization and modeling services to support an EIS for mining one of the world’s most promising molybdenum deposits.
- Hydrogeologic Investigations for Proposed Block-Cave Mining Operations. M&A characterizes several deep aquifer systems to evaluate the feasibility and potential impacts of proposed block-cave operations at an Arizona mine.
- Hydrogeologic Investigations for Aquifer Protection Permitting. M&A characterizes the complex flow and geochemical conditions within mine tailings and an underlying aquifer to support ongoing environmental compliance requirements.
- Hydrogeologic Investigations for Permitting a Proposed Copper Mine. M&A helps a mining company develop its water resources and implement an unprecedented monitoring program to protect nearby water users.
- NI 43-101 Inferred Resource Estimate for the Sal de Vida Project. M&A evaluates one of the world’s largest, highest-grade, undeveloped lithium-potash brine resources.
- Water Planning Task Force. M&A is part of a team that helps a growing Arizona county develop a consensus on a water planning approach
- Water & Energy Portfolio Diversification. M&A plays a crucial role in helping the Hopi Tribe diversify its portfolio of water and energy resources.
- Power Plant Wellfield Relocation & Expansion. Despite an extremely tight deadline, M&A helps APS relocate a major wellfield and assists in settling a land-lease dispute.
