In the Community
We believe that “corporate responsibility” engenders not only loyalty to our firm but also a sense of community.
M&A supports a number of causes that improve the quality of life for the disadvantaged and/or promote science education and research.
Community Outreach
Holiday food boxes. Each year, M&A employees fill more than 20 boxes with healthy food — including a turkey and all the fixings for a holiday dinner — to help impoverished families with school-age children in our Tucson neighborhood.
Adopt-A-Family. For the past 3 years, M&A has participated in the City of Phoenix’s Adopt-A-Family program for the holiday season, providing generous matching funds.
Matching nonprofit donations. We establish an annual fund for matching employee donations to eligible nonprofit groups of their choosing.
Nonprofit Organizations
Arizona Hydrological Society. M&A proudly supports AHS in various ways. In addition to contributing funds to the AHS Foundation for an annual scholarship, we host the Halpenny Intern to give real-world experience to undergraduate students. Monthly meetings of the Tucson chapter are held in our local office. Finally, M&A staff members are not only active in AHS leadership roles but they also serve on committees for annual conferences, which we also sponsor.
Engineers Without Borders. M&A supports EWB, a nonprofit humanitarian organization that implements sustainable engineering projects and trains internationally responsible engineers and engineering students.![]()
Water For People. M&A provides financial support to WFP, which helps people in developing countries develop their drinking water resources, build sanitation facilities, and implement hygiene education programs.
Education & Research
Arizona Water Resources Research Center. We sponsor of an annual summer writing internship for students interested in developing and publishing a focused water resources article for the Arroyo. We also sponsor WRRC’s annual conference.
Arizona universities. For many years, we have awarded the Montgomery Prize to the best student presentation at annual symposia (El Dia del Agua, GeoDaze) held in the University of Arizona’s
hydrology and geology departments. We also award a similar prize to a Northern Arizona University geology student selected at an annual departmental event.
Water Issues
Community events and policy meetings. We encourage our staff participate in water-related meetings, forums, panels, and processes.
